Start'Em Young

David McPherson

It is so refreshing to see parents and grandparents take an interest in the spiritual development of their little ones. Whether it’s encouraging them in a Bible class provided by the local church, or sharing a bedtime Bible story, or singing "Jesus Love Me" with them a thousand times - your efforts are certainly not in vain.

Far too many wait far too long to introduce their young people to God and his Word. Don’t let this be said of you! Do like those who cared about young Timothy, "start ‘em young."

The apostle Paul told Timothy how he remembered... "...the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois, and your mother Eunice; and I am persuaded is in you also" (2 Tim. 1:5). He later mentioned how... "...that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus" (2 Tim. 3:15). What led young Timothy to an unfeigned faith? How was he able so early in life to be wise for salvation? A major factor was the influences of a godly mother and grand-mother.

What are you doing to get your little ones on the right path? Don’t put off the training and development they need. Start ‘em young.
