Skipping Rope

Michael Pickford

Young people love to skip rope. I remember engaging in this pleasurable activity many times when I was small. In fact, there was about five of us kids who skipped rope every morning while waiting for the bus. skipping rope requires a certain amount of concentration. If one doesn’t keep his mind on what he’s doing he could trip and fall flat on his face! Interestingly, we always recited certain favorite rhymes in order to keep our rhythm and prevent falling. I’ve found that being a Christian is a lot like skipping rope. There’s always the danger of allowing the devil to trip you up and cause you to fall flat on your face. In order to prevent this from happening, one must concentrate on being spiritually minded. One must also continue steadfastly in reciting prayers and memorizing passages of scripture to recall in times of temptation. If one doesn’t do these things, he could trip and fall flat on his face! Skipping rope is work, but it’s fun. Christianity is the same way! How about you? Wanna skip rope?
